Memorial Day 2010

Fish Hatchery in Ogden
Hailey got to come with us! I don't think she cared too much for the fish but she was happy to be with Matt!
Jodi, Tim, & Cash
They said kiss the fish! Whether or not they were kidding, she didn't care! Ha ha.... so funny!
"MINUTE TO WIN IT" Games.... so funny!!!
Game #1: Try to get any shoe to land and stay on the table! Sound easy? :) yeah right! Only 2 people actually did it!
Game # 2 Keep 2 balloons up in the air for 60 seconds! NOBODY accomplished this one!!!! :)
Game #3 Get the bottle, right side up, to stay on the table! (0 winners) :)
Game #4 Get all 200 keenex's out of the box grabbing only one at a time with only one hand!
Heidi won but Matt only had one left! He was distraught! Can't you tell by his face :)
Then have a kleenex fight! :) Ha ha! We all won at that! Finally!!!!

New Hampshire

May 27th - 30th
This was a little bit crazy!!! We sold our house, signed the paperwork, moved our stuff into a storage unit and moved in with my parents and then flew out the next morning to Manchester, New Hampshire for Matt's big job interview! It was his 3rd interview for becoming the new administrator for this nursing home! This is what all are "what-if's" rest upon, but no pressure! :) We spent our time checking out New Hampshire, going apartment hunting, and relaxing and celebrating after the interview was over! I think he got the job but we'll find out! More waiting.... just what we love :)

Reminds me of Gildmore Girls, it's called the Milford oval!

Matt's interview was more than 4 hours!!! :) So I walked all around the town of Milford and then read in the cemetery til he finished! It was quite nerve racking and I wasn't even the one interviewing :)
Bridge in the Milford city park

If the job was based on looks, he totally got the job :)

Down town Milford, Beautiful huh? I think we could call this home!

Sunday Dinner & Cornhole

This weekend we got together with our good friends the Garcia's. They've had us over quite a bit and so we thought we'd try and cook something decent for them. It was kinda scary for me because Julez is the cook for the nursing home that Matt works for so he is like a pro cook and I didn't want to make a fool of myself with my "fancy cooking," which is not fancy at all! We had fettuccini and lasagna and it turned out pretty good, except I called my mom and said the the fettuccini sauce needed to be thicker, and she told me to put a little corn starch in and that would help. Well I misheard her or something cause I put corn syrup in to make it thicker :) Also matt wanted to add a little more sugar than the recipe so he added 2 more tablespoons of sugar! :) So it was like a candy fettuccini sauce! :) ha ha whoops! The kids loved it though, they probably felt like they had just poured syrup all over their noodles! They were in heaven! Ha ha At least next time I'll know to put corn STARCH in to make sauce thicker, instead of corn SYRUP :) The rest of the evening was way fun! After dinner we played a couple games of Cornhole, played Cosmic Catch, had popsicles and just hung out! It was a great Sunday!

The kids were trying to help me win :)
Matt and Julez, silly Matt! :)
Me and Natalie are totally the best at this game, NOT! :) But we had fun!
Just us girls, chillen, and eaten some popsicles!

Then we had a little bit too much fun playing on our computer! :)

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha :)

Bessie's Birthday and Lil kittens

Bessie is like another Grandma to us! And today she turned 88! :) She doesn't look it huh? Bre and I decided we should stop by and visit one day when we were on a walk about 8 years ago. We did ...and we've been going to visit her ever since! We used to go at least once a week but now that I don't live near by we don't go as often but I love to see her when I can!
She has a beautiful yard that she works so hard to keep up and almost every time we go over we take a walk around the yard to see what flowers are blooming and to see how much she's done lately. She does a way good job at keeping up on everything, especially for her age! Here are some of here lovely tulips!
And all her lily pads!
Bessie also has cats and it just so happened that the cat had little 3 or 4 day old kittens! They were so cute! Bre and I decided that they needed a lot of petting so we took care of them the whole time we were there! :) There were precious!!!!
Look at how super cute!!! I just wanted to keep it forever!
I think I am becoming an animal lover :) I never thought that would happen! Especially with cats!!!!
Oh and PS. I got my hair cut! It's like at least 5 inches shorter! Crazy!
Matt is definitely not becoming an animal lover! Can you believe that picture!!! :) Ha

Josh's & Gpa's Birthday

We celebrated Grandpa's and Josh's birthdays together on Tuesday! It's always nice to be with the family to celebrate each others birthdays! I'm very grateful to have both of them in my life!!!!

My favorite memories of Grandpa:
Grandpa and I used to wake up every morning at 5am, drink Cod liver oil, and then go for a 2-3 mile walk. Then we'd come home and eat breakfast. :) It was great. We drank Cod-liver oil because it's supposed to be really good for you and your skin! Grandpa always had little things like that. And I've always looked up to him so much! I just took his word for it about the fish oil, even though it tasted horrible! :) Ha ha! We did that same thing when I was younger, for a short while when they came to stay with us in Clearfield, but we would study the scriptures together after our walk. I always wanted to be just like him, so after they left I got up early in the morning to exercise to the Jane Fonda tapes :) He's always been very goal oriented and ambitious and I've always wanted to be like that! I'm grateful that my grandparents have been close and even when they didn't live too close, they made the effort to come out and see us and spend time with us! I'm so grateful for that! We have great memories together! I love you Grandpa!

Joshie Buddy
I've loved spending time with Josh since the day he was born. I asked my mom if I could move rooms and be in the same room with him. She told me that he would be crying sometimes and then other times I'd have to be really quiet to not wake him up, but I didn't care! I just wanted to be in the same room with him. I was only 6 but I would hold him and rock him to sleep! :) And I've loved spending time with him ever since! Some of my fondest memories are: going to Lagoon ALL the time cause we both had season passes, going swimming whenever we could, and playing with the parachute in the wind and watching him be thrown around by the wind! :) Through the years we've done a lot together and have made a lot of memories! I'm cherish all of them! He has really grown into a great young man! He has such a pure heart and a wonderful soul. He's thoughtful and kind and always strives to do the right thing! Although he is the youngest of the family, I think we all look up to him, I know I sure do! He also has a great sense of humor, very clever and witty and quick to make a funny remark! :) He always brightens my day! I'm so grateful for him! Love you Josh! Josh and Grandpa always celebrate their birthdays together and me and grandma always celebrate ours together! That's really special to me!
Cute huh?
(G'ma and G'pa) Matt and I got them that book. It's the Grandparents book. They have to fill it all out so that we get to hear all their fun stories!
Josh got some sweet stuff too!
Uncle Bill and Dane, they're just a couple of CRAZIES!!!! :)

Happy Birthday Josh and Grandpa!

ROAD TRIP!!!!

Jake was heading home from DC so I met him in Chicago to drive back with him..... and this is how much fun we had in the process.......
We stopped to see the ginormous bean!
Wow, Jake you look funny and kinda short!
Of course we had to have a little Chicago style deep dish pizza from the famous Giordano's :)
We walked all around the beautiful city; where, by the way, I got tendonitis in my feet! :) It still hasn't gone away!
we walked down by the river
went to the Navy Pier, then back to Aunt Kathy's house.
Then we were off to Des Moines, Iowa. We stopped to visit Lu and LuMae. She made us some amazing Chinese food and Tofu!!
We stayed with Bruce and Kathy in Ida Grove, IA. This small town is pretty cool! There are castles everywhere! There was a wealthy guy, back in the day, that had taken a trip to Europe and saw lots of cool castles. Well when he came back to the states, he decided he wanted castles built in his town. So he gave money to anyone who said they would build their building like a castle! :) Hence it was like castle town! Pretty cool, huh!?!

So... I got this "Road Trip Book" that had all these cool little places that we could stop at along the way.... so we took the opportunity to do just that! :)
I know what you're thinking, of all the places that you could have stopped at, you stopped at an ice cream factory???? Really??? I mean, it's not like I have an abnormally and unhealthy obsession with ice cream or anything :)
Okay, maybe I do!
So we couldn't resist! Shakes, straight from the Blue Bunny factory! :) YAY!!!!
This place is the Corn Palace! They redecorate it each year with murals of corn, both inside and out!
Aren't the murals pretty amazing, especially cause their made out of little cobs of corn!
(Above) This was pretty much what the scenery looked like for most of the trip! :)

Here are the BAD LANDS!!! After driving through so much of the above, this was a pretty cool sight to see!
I love bunny rabbits!
Now for the drum roll please.... Mount Rushmore!
Jake got to kiss 2 presidents and I got to kiss one too! Sweet ol George Washington!

This is the Crazy Horse monument that they are working on now in the Black Hills of South Dakota. When it's done it will be way bigger than Mt. Rushmore!

Before we got too close to home we realized we didn't have any pics of us and the car, which is a definite must for a road trip! So we pulled right over and set up the camera with the timer. Jake ran so fast to try to make the picture that I think he dented his car in the process! :)

Home again.... safe and sound! Jake and I had a great time.
Some things that were definitely awesome about the trip:
  • Hearing all about Jake's time in DC and having the long, deep conversations about life, the earth, religion, society, relationships and all that good stuff that we usually talk about on a regular basis :)
  • Trying the new crisp potato taco at Taco Bell, several times! Mmm... and perfect for vegetarians!
  • The fact that Jake has the "worst music ever made CD." I only made it through 2 songs before I couldn't take it anymore! Then I turned on my "best music ever" from my ipod!
  • Also... Jake's got this substantial obsession with the word substantial and he definitely used the word a substantial amount during our substantial trip! I thought it was substantially hilarious!
The End
